7 years agoNew York Mets reliever Anthony Swarzak left Saturday’s win over the St. Louis Cardinals with a sore left oblique and will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of the injury. After being re-evaluated on Sunday, doctors recommended the further testing. Swarzak said he felt the pain a few pitches before being forced to leave the game but is “not panicking” at the moment. He had pitched 1 1/3 innings to that point, striking out two and allowing a solo home run to Matt Carpenter. Losing Swarzak for an extended period of time would be a big blow to the Mets bullpen this early in the year.--John Smith
