Martin Perez to Make First Start of the Season
7 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Martin Perez will return Thursday to start the mid-afternoon game against the Oakland Athletics. The poor state of the Rangers starting rotation ensures that Perez is in no danger of losing his spot, regardless of his performance. The veteran is the dictionary definition of an innings-eater, and an ERA in the mid-4.00, a WHIP around 1.50 and a K/9 rate near five per nine innings is what fantasy owners should expect. There's little upside for the 27-year-old, but if you need to get to an innings or starts limit, you can pick your spots with him. Perez may not be an ideal starter to run out, but he has a decent matchup against an A's squad that ranks around the middle of the American League in offensive production so far.
