7 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Ben Gamel (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Modesto, per MLB.com. Gamel is recovering from a strained oblique, so the Mariners opted to send him to High-A as opposed to the chilly temperatures of Triple-A Tacoma. Gamel is certain to see a few games to ensure there are no setbacks before he returns to the majors. When he returns, Gamel should fit right into the Mariners outfield rotation. He may not provide a ton of power but is a player who flashed his potential last season when he hit .393 in the month of June. His return will likely mean Ichiro Suzuki will move to more of a bench role.--Joey C - RotoBaller
