7 years agoSeattle Mariners designated hitter Nelson Cruz has seen the swelling go down in his sprained ankle. Cruz was placed on the disabled list retroactive to April 1 and could be ready to play by as early as next week. It is unclear whether he would go on a rehab assignment to get a few at-bats under his belt or if he could simply rejoin the team once he's healed. Cruz homered in his first two games of the season before the injury and would be a boon to a Mariners offense that has gotten off to a good start thus far this season. Cruz could begin participating in drills by the end of the week.--Joey C - RotoBaller
