7 years agoOver his first 37 plate appearances of 2018, Orioles shortstop had only one extra-base hit — a double on Opening Day. Friday night against the Yankees, Machado exploded for his first two home runs of the season off Yankees starter CC Sabathia. Machado finished the game 4-for-5 with the two home runs, two walks, two RBI, and three runs scored. Hopefully this outburst will be enough to snap Machado out of his slump, as he had four hits over his previous 22 plate appearances with six strikeouts.--Michael Grennell - RotoBaller
