BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 55% of Yahoo leagues
ANALYSIS: Los Angeles Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons enjoyed the best offensive season of his career in 2017, hitting .278 with 14 home runs, 19 stolen bases, and 146 R+RBI in 158 games. Judging by his ownership rate, fantasy owners were not overly impressed with the breakout.
Those who drafted him have thus far enjoyed Simmons collecting 15 hits in 10 games and posting a .357 batting average. He has also added two doubles and has driven in seven runs, more than adequate performance from a starting SS, let alone a middle infielder on fantasy rosters.
There is nothing out of the ordinary here, and you should expect at least a .280 BA for the rest of the season and 75-85 runs. He will chip in an occasional stolen base, to boot. Simmons was a fantastic player prior to honing his batting skills, but this is clearly a case of a player adding a needed dimension to his game. The sample size is legitimate and big enough. He has been hitting well for over a year and should be added in all deeper leagues.
