7 years agoThe New York Mets have called up right-handed pitcher Corey Oswalt to the majors, sending outfielder Brandon Nimmo To Triple-A Las Vegas in a corresponding move. Nimmo played very well to start the season by slashing .333/.600/.555 across 15 plate appearances, but his starting gig was quickly displaced when Michael Conforto returned much sooner than expected. Oswalt had a productive 2017 in Vegas, amassing a 2.28 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 134 1/3 innings pitched while punching out 119. It’s worth noting that while Oswalt made 24 starts last season, he’s being called up to Queens as a reliever. Oswalt won’t carry any fantasy value with Jeurys Familia as the closer with several names entrenched immediately behind if Familia were to falter. Nimmo will still carry value in dynasty leagues, especially those that value on-base percentage.--John Smith
