Taylor Motter To Get Start At First Base
7 years agoSeattle Mariners infielder Taylor Motter will get the start and bat ninth for the Mariners on Tuesday, per MLB.com. Motter is a shortstop by trade but will change gloves while the team deals with injuries to Ryon Healy and Nelson Cruz. Dan Vogelbach will serve as the designated hitter and Motter will get a chance to contribute. Motter enjoyed an excellent month of April in 2017, hitting five home runs and seven doubles in 22 games. His production completely tailed off from that point, and he is no more than a defensive bench piece at present. But the Mariners are running thin on healthy bodies, so Motter should see a healthy amount of plate appearances this week.
