Travis d’Arnaud Has Partially Torn UCL
7 years agoNew York Mets catcher Travis d’Arnaud has been diagnosed with a partially torn UCL in his right elbow and has been placed on the 10-day disabled list. There are no other updates at this time, but it seems entirely possible that d’Arnaud may end up undergoing season-ending Tommy John surgery. It’s yet another bad injury in what has become a history of them for the 29-year-old. His healthiest season was in 2014 where he still only amassed 421 plate appearances. He wasn’t exactly off to a hot start this season, either, slashing only .200/.250/.400 with one home run and three RBI across 16 plate appearances. Kevin Plawecki will take over the primary catching duties for the Amazins, and Tomas Nido was recalled from Double-A Binghamton as the new backup.
