BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 39% of Yahoo leagues
ANALYSIS: Often overlooked by fantasy owners is the value that position flexibility offers for roster construction, and Yangervis Solarte fits that mold. In most leagues, he is at least 2B/SS/3B/MI/CI eligible with other leagues being even more lenient. Without turning this into a roster management post, the more players with flexible positions, the more owners can play with match-ups, adding value to Solarte’s profile. Even more, Solarte is a good add due to his offensive profile. This year Solarte is walking in 20.9% of his plate appearances, and posting a career-high .235 ISO. Combining both stats, we can see that he is waiting for his pitch and making excellent contact when he gets it. At the very least, Solarte is a must add in OBP leagues.
One of the concerns with Solarte playing in Toronto was playing time, but so far with injuries to Troy Tulowitzki and a slumping Devin Travis, Solarte has played in 10 of 12 games for the Jays. If he continues to hit, there is no reason for him to leave the line-up, and with his flexibility, the chances of rotating to gets plate appearances add more value to the profile.
