7 years agoTexas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus will not need surgery to recover from a fractured right elbow suffered on a hit by pitch by Angels reliever Kenyon Middleton on Wednesday. The veteran is expected to miss six to eight weeks while on the mend. This is great news for the former All-Star, as surgery would have likely kept him away from the game for a minimum of three months. However, fantasy owners would be better off planning for the full eight weeks, as Andrus will need some time to get his timing back. Consider moving him in redraft leagues as his return gets closer, as players sustaining such injuries in the past have struggled to regain power without an offseason to fully recover.--Sean Scampton
