7 years agoSeattle Mariners starter Felix Hernandez tossed 6 1/3 innings of two-run baseball but took the loss in the Mariners 2-1 defeat Sunday. Hernandez allowed a two-run blast to the A's Jed Lowrie but shut down their lineup the rest of the outing. He struck out seven in his best performance of the season after a rough start against the Giants last week. If healthy, Hernandez has the veteran guile to be an effective pitcher this season but has been bitten by the home run bug early. He already has allowed four long balls to opponents this season and no longer has the electrifying stuff that earned him the nickname 'King'. Expectations need to be tempered moving forward with the former ace.--Joey C - RotoBaller
