ANALYSIS: Minnesota Twins utility man Eduardo Escobar has taken over the shortstop job in Minnesota while Jorge Polanco has been suspended for PED usage and has had the most of it. He is hitting .294 in 38 plate appearances to open the season and also has six extra-base hits.
Escobar had a .758 OPS in 129 games for Minnesota last season, including 21 home runs in 499 plate appearances, showing that he has power, even though he only has one home run in the early going. In 2014, Escobar also hit .275, showing that he has the ability to hit for average as well.
The most appealing skill for Escobar is the fact that he is able to play all over the infield, filling the gaps for players that are injured or sitting. The Twins have had many games postponed due to weather as well, meaning that Escobar has more games upcoming than other waiver wire options.
