7 years agoNew York Mets outfielders Yoenis Cespedes (illness) and Jay Bruce (foot) are back in the lineup for the middle game of the Amazins three-game series with the Washington Nationals. Both pinch hit on Monday and both were retired. Cespedes returns to the lineup after feeling under the weather for a few days, while Bruce has been dealing with plantar fasciitis. Unfortunately for the left-handed Bruce, the Nationals are trotting out southpaw Gio Gonzalez on Tuesday, so chances are it won’t exactly be a warm welcome. In a very small sample size (13 at-bats), however, Cespedes has crushed Gonzalez to the tune of a .538 batting average with two home runs.--John Smith
