7 years agoNew York Mets first baseman Adrian Gonzalez sat out Tuesday’s game due to southpaw starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez getting the nod for the Washington Nationals, but A-Gon is returning to the lineup on Wednesday with righty Tanner Roark on the mound. Gonzalez has probably been a bit better than expected so far, but that doesn’t mean he’s been good. He’s slashing a meager .222/.326/.333 with one home run across 43 plate appearances. Gonzalez may be hitting the ball hard (40 percent hard-hit rate), but his 30 percent fly-ball rate indicates his power is all but sapped. He’s waiver wire fodder in just about every league.--John Smith
