7 years agoNew York Mets reliever Anthony Swarzak was inching closer to a return after straining his left oblique, but he has been shut down due to lingering discomfort. Swarzak had been throwing off flat ground as recently as Monday, but that’s obviously no longer happening. He was originally scheduled to travel to Florida this week to take his rehab up a notch, but will no longer do so. Swarzak has been limited to only 2 1/3 innings pitched thus far, injuring himself during the second game of the season. When he does return, he’ll be a solid holds candidate on a team that seems to be playing with the lead more often than not.--John Smith
