Gerrit Cole Aims For Fourth Straight Start Of 10-Plus K's
7 years agoHouston Astros starter Gerrit Cole has been dynamite out of the gate thus far this season. He owns a 1.29 ERA, a 0.67 WHIP and has struck out at least 10 hitters in all three starts. Through 21 innings , he has allowed only 10 hits and struck out 36. Fourteen of those punchouts came in his last start and he became the first player in major league history to strike out that many in 93 pitches or fewer. To say that Cole is on his game right now is an understatement. He will face a Mariners lineup that has gotten off to a strong start to begin the season. The key to success on Wednesday will be Cole's ability to shut down the Mariners top two hitters in Dee Gordon and Jean Segura. In 39 career combined at-bats, the duo is hitting .359 lifetime against Cole. Regardless, Cole needs to be in all lineups and is perhaps the best pitcher going right now fantasy-wise.
