Ben Gamel Activated, Will Start Wednesday Night
7 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Ben Gamel (oblique) has been activated from the disabled list and will start Wednesday night in left field, per MLB.com. Gamel went 1-for-4 for Triple-A Tacoma and appears ready to go after rehabbing an oblique injury suffered in spring training. The Mariners optioned Tuesday night's starter Ariel Miranda and Gamel will make his season debut against Gerrit Cole and the Astros. Gamel hit .275 with five triples, 11 home runs, 27 doubles and 59 runs batted in through 134 games in 2017. Gamel also hit .287 with runners in scoring position and proved to be an able, if not powerful, outfield bat. Gamel should slide somewhere in the bottom half of the Mariners lineup when he plays and his fantasy value should be reserved for deep mixed and AL-only leagues.
