Mets Sign Vance Worley, Scott Copeland
7 years agoThe New York Mets added some organizational depth on Thursday, signing pitchers Vance Worley and Scott Copeland to minor league deals. Neither figure to be major contributors for the Amazins’, but stranger things have happened. Worley is coming off a disastrous 2017 that saw him get shelled to the tune of a 6.91 ERA across 71 1/3 innings pitched for the Miami Marlins. Copeland, also with the Marlins organization in 2017, pitched exclusively in Triple-A New Orleans and racked up a 4.97 ERA. The Mets also released pitcher A.J. Griffin, who was with their Triple-A affiliate in Las Vegas and allowed 16 runs in just three innings pitched this year. There’s no fantasy significance for any of these moves.
