7 years agoHouston Astros closer Ken Giles is dealing with back tightness, according to the Houston Chronicle. Manager A.J. Hinch admitted to reporters that the injury has gotten "progressively a little bit worse" over the course of the past few days. Reliever Chris Devenski closed out an Astros win the other day and Giles could be headed for the disabled list if his back does not loosen up. Giles came under fire during the 2017 postseason after a few shaky outings found him losing his closer role en route to a World Series win. Giles enjoyed a strong spring training but a back injury early in the season is not a good sign. The Astros could elect to go with a closer-by-committee for the time being using Devenski, Brad Peacock and maybe even former starter Collin McHugh. If you're searching for saves or own Giles, however, Devenski should be your first choice.--Joey C - RotoBaller
