BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 36% of leagues
ANALYSIS: St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas has found a spot in the Cardinals rotation and is a good option going forward. After allowing four earned runs in each of his first two starts of the season, Mikolas allowed one earned run on four hits in seven innings against the Reds on April 14.
What has been particularly attractive for Mikolas, who has only struck out 14 batters in 19 innings, is that he has thrown 68% strikes and has walked just two batters. He has also pitched into the sixth innings in each of his starts, showing that he is a stable option for length in games as well. After failing in the big leagues in 2014 (2-5 with a 6.44 ERA in 57 1/3 innings for the Rangers), Mikolas was 31-13 with a 2.18 ERA in Japan (424 2/3 innings over three seasons).
While he may not be a safe enough option to hold down a roster spot in all formats, Mikolas is a strong streaming option at a minimum. He will face a struggling Reds lineup on Sunday and is in a place to continue on his strong start.
