Manuel Margot (OF, SD) - Week 4 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 53% of leagues

ANALYSIS: San Diego Padres outfielder Manuel Margot is set to return to from a rib injury and fantasy owners should be quick to add the dynamic threat. Margot was only 7-for-44 before going down with an injury on April 10, but did have a home run and runs in four of six games.

The 23-year-old had 13 home runs and 17 stolen bases in 126 games last season, prompting people to believe that he would be a 20/20 threat in 2018. While the speed is real (topped 30 stolen bases in four of his five minor league seasons), he never had more than 10 home runs in the minor leagues. It is odd that he found power once he got to the majors, but he did have a 25.4% hard hit ball rate and only hit 40.5%, his lowest mark since 2015 in Double-A with the Red Sox.

While Margot may not be a great option as a starting outfielder in all formats, he is quickly gaining steam as a OF3 in all mixed leagues. Fantasy owners will want to see him flash his speed a bit more (two stolen bases in 11 games this season) and he would be a nice addition if his power numbers from 2017 maintain.
