Felix Hernandez Picks Up Victory With Quality Outing
7 years agoSeattle Mariners starter Felix Hernandez picked up the win on Wednesday after throwing six innings of three-run baseball as the Mariners edged the White Sox 4-3. Hernandez (3-2) struck out six through 95 pitches in a gutty, veteran performance. These types of outings may be the norm for Hernandez moving forward -- solid but not quite worthy of long-term fantasy investment. It marks the third quality start in a row now for Hernandez despite an ERA sitting at 4.96. Long gone are the days of 200-plus strikeout seasons for King Felix but he still possesses plenty of veteran guile. Hernandez will give the team plenty of quality innings but is less than appealing from a fantasy perspective. His WHIP has been on the rise for three seasons now, and he will struggle to keep his ERA below 4.00. Hernandez is a matchup-based fantasy option in deeper leagues right now.
