Jeremy Jeffress Continues Solid 2018 Season With Second Save
7 years agoMilwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Jeremy Jeffress went two innings on Wednesday, giving up a run and a hit in the 3-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds. Josh Hader had just pitched 2 2/3 innings with eight strikeouts on Tuesday, so he was given the day off, and Jeffress was given another chance to lock down a save. He came in for the eighth inning after Dan Jennings took a liner off his calf and retired six batters to record his second save of the season. Jeffress has easily been one of the top relievers in 2018 thus far, posting a 0.51 ERA and 0.55 WHIP in 17 2/3 innings pitched and now has two saves to his name. While he won't be a regular to get saves, he should be owned in all holds formats right now, as he looks to be at the peak of his game despite his low strikeout rate at only 6.62 K/9.
