Matt Harvey Designated For Assignment
7 years agoIt feels crazy to even write this considering how good he was not all that long ago, but the New York Mets are designating pitcher Matt Harvey for assignment. The team asked him to accept an assignment to the minor leagues, which Harvey refused. It’s a tragic end to the former Dark Knight’s tenure in Queens. After debuting in 2012, Harvey dazzled for about a year before undergoing Tommy John surgery, rebounding to help lead the Mets to the World Series and see it all go downhill again when he needed thoracic outlet surgery. Harvey has not been the same since. He’ll undoubtedly get another shot elsewhere, but clearly he’s going to need to improve upon his attitude and results before he becomes fantasy relevant again.
