Jay Bruce Starting At First Base Friday
7 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Jay Bruce is switching over to a position he became familiar with in 2017 -- first base. Bruce has been taking repetitions at the position over the last few weeks, and even though it’s not his preferred position, he said he’ll do whatever the team asks of him. This move is optimal for maximizing production in the Mets lineup, as it removes the inefficient Adrian Gonzalez and gets on-base monster Brandon Nimmo in. The move is not a permanent one yet, and the rumor has it that Bruce will be at first base roughly one game a week. Bruce may still have first base eligibility in your fantasy league depending on what platform you’re on, but if he doesn’t, he’ll have it soon enough. Nimmo could also become a valuable pickup in OBP leagues if he starts to see enough playing time to justify the add.
