Michael Kopech Making Progress With Changeup
7 years agoChicago White Sox top starting pitching prospect Michael Kopech said in an interview Friday that he felt very comfortable throwing his changeup in his last outing against Triple-A Gwinnett. Thus far in his career, Kopech has relied on a double-plus fastball that touches 100 mph, combined with a slider which flashes plus at times. That combination has been more than enough to baffle minor league hitters. An effective changeup will take Kopech to the next level. White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said earlier this week that Kopech is not ready for a call-up yet. However, White Sox fans can only stomach a few more looks at James Shields and Miguel Gonzalez. Dynasty owners should look for Kopech to make his MLB debut this summer.
