7 years agoWashington Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman has been scratched from the lineup against the Phillies due to back stiffness. The decision by manager Dave Martinez was likely precautionary given Zimmerman's age and injury history. The slugging first baseman has had a tumultuous start to the year as his batting average is a mere .194, however he has picked it up in the last three games.
