7 years agoThe San Diego Padres announced Monday that starting pitcher Bryan Mitchell will move from the starting rotation to the bullpen. The demotion was expected after manager Andy Green called out Mitchell to improve his performance twice over the last week. Mitchell has been a disaster for the Padres, posting a 6.47 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and 0.62 K/BB over seven starts. Mitchell is out of options, so sending him to Triple-A would've risked him being claimed by another team. Pitcher Jordan Lyles will take Mitchell's place in the rotation and is scheduled to start May 10 against the St. Louis Cardinals. Lyles has posted a 3.66 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 13 appearances this season. For his career, he has started 107 games and holds a 5.38 ERA through eight seasons. Lyles is not a fantasy option until proven otherwise.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
