7 years agoWhile at one point this seemed a bit unlikely, the word currently making the rounds is that the New York Mets are gaining confidence that they will find a trade partner for pitcher Matt Harvey. Harvey was designated for assignment on Saturday after he refused a minor league assignment, and he’ll become a free agent if no trade can be worked out. The Mets, however, are reportedly willing to cover a large portion of his remaining $4.5 million 2018 salary, so that makes a trade more likely. So far, the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, Cincinnati Reds and Texas Rangers have all been linked to Harvey, although Rangers general manager Jon Daniels told the media on Monday his club does not have interest. This saga will be resolved soon.--John Smith
