Padres Emerging As Another Matt Harvey Suitor
7 years agoOver the past 24 hours or so, we’ve heard sources out of the New York Mets indicate that the team is confident they will find a taker for former pitcher Matt Harvey via trade. The Texas Rangers, San Francisco Giants, Baltimore Orioles, Seattle Mariners, Chicago White Sox and Cincinnati Reds have all been linked to Harvey in some fashion, and now we can add another -- the San Diego Padres. The Padres could certainly use some back-end rotation help, but Harvey is obviously no guarantee to be an upgrade over what they currently have. It’s worth noting that the Mets just completed a series in San Diego from April 27-29 and Harvey pitched relatively decent in relief in two of those games, allowing a home run and a walk in two innings pitched. Perhaps the Padres saw something out of Harvey that has them intrigued.
