Wilmer Flores Hits First Homer Since April 15
7 years agoNot a whole lot went right for the New York Mets on Tuesday in a 7-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds, but Wilmer Flores was a lone bright spot. Entering the game as a pinch hitter for starting pitcher Jason Vargas, Flores finished 2-for-3 with a home run. The long ball was only his third of the season and his first since April 15. As of late, playing time as been scarce for Flores, and for the most part he’s served mainly as a pinch hitter since late-April. However, with third baseman Todd Frazier on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, Flores could see more time at the hot corner since Jose Reyes likely won’t be sufficient.
