7 years agoWashington Nationals oufielder Bryce Harper is in the middle of an 0-for-19 batting slump but will continue to lead off for the Nationals, per Dave Martinez. Harper came roaring out of the gates when moved to the leadoff spot last week, going 6-for-17 with four homers and a double in his first four games. But over his last 20 games, he's batting .162 with a puny .353 slugging percentage. He takes a lot of walks, as seen in his .345 on-base percentage, but even that number is due mainly to his early season success. During this slump, he’s only taken one walk. Still, Harper’s upside is among the greatest in the game and the season is barely a fifth over. His situation presents an excellent buying opportunity if his current owner is feeling panicked or falling behind in the standings.--Mario Hernandez - RotoBaller
