7 years agoWashington Nationals starter Gio Gonzalez didn't have the best command on Wednesday against the Padres, but he delivered a quality start nonetheless. Over six innings, Gonzalez gave up one earned run on five hits, while striking out eight and walking three. His overall lack of command was evident in his high pitch count of 110, only 61 of which went for strikes. He also only threw 11 first-pitch strikes to the 25 batters he faced. Command was an issue for Gonzalez last year, but it's hard to argue with this year's results. In just 44 2/3 innings, he also has 50 strikeouts. That puts him on-pace for an unlikely 210 strikeouts, which would best his career-high of 207 in 2012. There may be some regression coming and owners should look to sell high.--Mario Hernandez - RotoBaller
