Four Straight Scoreless Outings For Jeurys Familia
7 years agoWith the New York Mets losing a heck of a lot more than they’re winning as of late, closer Jeurys Familia has been collecting dust waiting for opportunities to pitch. Despite not having the chance to develop any sort of rhythm, Familia continues to be near-flawless. He picked up his 11th save of the year on Friday against the Philadelphia Phillies, not allowing any baserunners while striking out one. It was Familia’s fourth straight scoreless appearance after surrendering runs in two of three games pitched between April 21 and April 26, the first runs he allowed this season. Perhaps most impressive is that Friday was only Familia’s third appearance in May, giving you an idea of how much time he’s spending in the bullpen and not on the mound. He owns a sparkling 1.50 ERA and 0.94 WHIP on the season with 21 strikeouts against six walks.
