7 years agoSan Diego Padres rookie starter Eric Lauer was roughed up for six earned runs in only 2 1/3 innings in Friday's loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. Looking to build off ten consecutive scoreless innings, Lauer breezed through the first inning before coming undone. He ultimately gave up seven hits including four home runs, walked one and didn't record a strikeout. Lauer's ERA sits at 8.27 after four starts. He replaced starter Luis Perdomo in late April but with Perdomo pitching well in Triple-A (3.10 ERA in four starts), it's uncertain if Lauer will be allotted another start. As the Padres No. 12 prospect, Lauer offered upside for the team and fantasy owners but big league hitters have feasted on his low-90s fastball and poor location. It might make sense for the 22-year-old to continue his development in the minor leagues.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
