BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 14% of leagues
ANALYSIS: San Francisco Giants second baseman/outfielder Alen Hanson is day-to-day with a hamstring injury, but his strong start to the 2018 season cannot be dismissed. A former top prospect for the Pirates, Hanson has four home runs and three stolen bases in just 14 games for the Giants this season and had three home runs and six stolen bases for Triple-A Sacramento before being recalled.
Still just 25 years old, Hanson stole at least 20 bases in each minor league season (topping out at 36 in Triple-A for the Pirates in 2016), but only had a .222 batting average in 267 MLB plate appearances coming into 2018. While his 40% hard hit ball rate is very nice, it is likely unsustainable, but his 42.5% fly ball rate and 55% pull rate are assisting with his power boost.
While his health needs to be taken into account before picking him up, Hanson could be a classic late bloomer that just needed a change of scenery. His value has never been higher as well, as Robinson Cano could miss up to two months with a broken hand, and Hanson can fill in as a suitable replacement.
