BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 10% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Edubray Ramos was the recipient of a save opportunity on Sunday, putting him squarely on the fantasy radar. Traditional Phillies closer Hector Neris has saved eight games this season, but also has a 5.17 ERA in 15 2/3 innings and has walked nine batters. Also, Phillies manager Gabe Kapler is far from traditional and may be known to use his bullpen more situationally than most managers.
While Kapler's strategy may not be great for Ramos going forward, fantasy owners should be interested in the fact that the 25-year-old has only allowed two earned runs in 16 innings this season while striking out 20 batters. He too is struggling a bit with walks (eight), but has only allowed 10 hits and has already finished five games this season. Ramos had struggled in the big leagues coming into 2018 (4.05 ERA in 97 2/3 innings), but did have 115 strikeouts in that time period and has been lights out in the minors since 2014.
If Ramos is able to grab the closer's role from Neris, he is an instant add in all formats. As of now, though, he is a good speculative add in deeper leagues who, at a minimum, will help with run prevention and strikeouts.
