7 years agoComing off arguably his best outing of the season last Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds, the fantasy community was encouraged to see what New York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler would do for an encore against the Toronto Blue Jays. The answer: the complete opposite. Wheeler was crushed to the tune of six earned runs on seven hits (including two home runs) and three walks while striking out seven. It’s worth noting that a lengthy “rain delay” that wasn’t so much a delay as it was the grounds crew completely reworking the field in the midst of bad rain split the day in half for Wheeler; he was very good prior to the delay, and very bad after. Still, that did not seem to be an issue for his counterpart on the Blue Jays, J.A. Happ. Wheeler will next take the mound on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins; it’s anybody’s guess which Wheeler we’ll get.--John Smith
