BALLER MOVE: Add in all leagues
OWNED IN: 21% of leagues
ANALYSIS: With injuries to Wil Myers and a struggling Manuel Margot, expect Franchy Cordero to be with the big league club a lot this season. All of a sudden he has moved from a bench player with some power and speed upside to a regular starter than might push into OF3 consideration for fantasy lineups. Setting aside the unattractive K%, his profile is compelling. His .252 AVG with six home runs, 18 RBI, 16 runs, and five steals allow Cordero to contribute in at least three, often more, categories. Ignore the 35% K rate and celebrate the 9 BB% if Cordero is in play, he can still produce with these numbers.
What stands out with Cordero is that he hits the ball hard, often. Currently, a 50 Hard% and relatively equal placement of the batted balls mean power to all fields. Both of these support the high BABIP at .356. While that should come down a bit, if Cordero can keep the average above .230 with 25+ HR and 25+ steals the value is there to make him a must-start and must own. Hey, at the very worst, it gives owners an excuse to turn on a Padres game.
