7 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes (hip) is first eligible to return from the disabled list on Thursday, but according to manager Mickey Callaway, that is unlikely to happen. Cespedes was placed on the disabled list last week due to a right hip flexor strain, an issue that’s been bothering him for some time this year. He’s going to need more time to heal up, though at this point it doesn’t sound as though we’ll know how much more. Brandon Nimmo has been the biggest beneficiary of extra playing time in Cespedes’ absence, though aside from getting on base a lot, Nimmo isn’t setting the world on fire.--John Smith
