7 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays were blown out by the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday 8-1, and that one run came off the bat of outfielder Dwight Smith. He took Angels starting pitcher Nick Tropeano deep in the sixth inning for his first home fun of the season and the only offensive production for the Blue Jays on the day. Through 22 at-bats in the big leagues this year, Smith has been productive to the tune of a .318/.400/.591 slash line, though his lengthy minor league career suggests he’s not capable of coming even close to keeping those rates going. Smith will likely be optioned back to Triple-A Buffalo once outfielder Randal Grichuk makes it back from injury soon.--John Smith
