BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 7% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Detroit Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias has regained his form as a contact hitter that now has a hit in three of the last five games. In each of those three games, he also has a double and, in two of the three games, he has also scored a run. He has two home runs, five doubles, and three stolen bases in four attempts this month.
Iglesias has also scored nine runs and driven in nine runs this month, serving as a strong offensive option at the bottom of the Tigers lineup. He has shown the discipline to walk in 7.1% of his plate appearances and the patience to only strike out in 7.1% of plate appearances as well. A 50.7% ground ball rate is not great, even though he is a quick player, but his .284 BABIP is not particularly high either.
Fantasy owners may not want to have Iglesias as a starting SS in shallow leagues, but his speed and average could make him a starter in deeper leagues as well as AL-only formats. He has been a .300 hitter in the past and should be in contention for a MI spot in all formats.
