ANALYSIS: St. Louis Cardinals infielder Jedd Gyorko may only have a .267 batting average this month, but has a hit in seven of his last nine games. Only one of those games is a multi-hit games, but Gyokrko did have a double on May 23. He has two doubles and two home runs this month, scoring six runs and driving in eight batters.
Gyorko has been batting in the middle of the Cardinals lineup and had a four-game RBI streak from May 16-May 19. Most impressively is that he has a 44.4% hard hit rate and 24.4% line drive rate this month, showing that his .326 BABIP may even be a bit deflated. He only has one extra-base hit over the last 12 games, a number that should jump if he continues to make solid contact.
Fantasy owners will like that Gyorko has been hitting the ball hard and will also like that he can play all over the infield. The ability to fill 1B, 2B, 3B, and CI/MI makes Gyorko a useful addition in the middle of the Cardinals infield.
