7 years agoWhile Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco won't rule out re-signing tight end Antonio Gates with Hunter Henry (knee) out for the year, quarterback Philip Rivers has voted for the return of Gates. "Would be a natural fit, right?" Telesco wrote during a live chat with fans on the team's official website. "I saw that Philip voted for it. When it comes to roster moves, we are not a democracy. But we are not a dictatorship either. His vote was noted and accounted for. Antonio's accomplishments and contributions to this organization are immeasurable. We will see what the future holds. I don't have an update at this time." Gates will turn 38 years old this month and has lost most of his playmaking abilities, but he has excellent chemistry with Rivers and could provide a red-zone presence. Virgil Green is the current starter at tight end, but he doesn't figure to do much in the passing game. Gates would merely be a feel-good story if he returns to the Bolts in what will probably be his final season.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
