6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Chad Kuhl gave up two runs in six strong innings in a no-decision against the St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday. The right-hander allowed four hits, struck out five and walked two on the day, but he was bested by counterparts Luke Weaver and Austin Gomber, who combined to allow one run in eight innings. Although he wasn't able to pick up his first win since May 6, it was still the third straight quality outing for Kuhl, who has allowed only four runs and 13 hits in his last 18 innings. Consistency has been a problem in the past for Kuhl, so the recent performance is an encouraging development and puts him on the waiver-wire radar in mixed leagues. He'll face the Chicago Cubs in his next start on Friday.--Matt Wilkes
