6 years agoWith the 16th pick in the 2018 MLB Amateur draft, the Tampa Bay Rays selected 18-year-old left-handed pitcher Matthew Liberatore out of Mountain Ridge High School as a senior. Standing at 6-foot-5 and 200 pounds, Liberatore was arguably the best high school prospect in the draft this year and could be a huge steal at 16th overall. Liberatore holds scouting grades of a 55 fastball, 55 curveball, 55 slider, 55 changeup and 55 control on the 20-80 scale. The Rays rank sixth inn the MiLB Pitcher Farm System Rankings, and Liberatore will compete with elite pitching prospects such as Brent Honeywell and Brendan McKay in the system. The Tampa Bay Rays are deep into a rebuild, and Liberatore will be another solid piece in their already amazing prospect pool.--Caden Inaba
