Preston Guilmet Designated for Assignment
7 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Preston Guilmet was designated for assignment on Thursday. The 30-year-old minor league journeyman was rewarded with a call-up to the big league bullpen after putting up a sparkling 0.93 ERA, 0.48 WHIP and 35/5 K/BB ratio over 29 innings in Triple-A, but he was unable to translate that success to the majors. He got into two games, getting six outs while allowing five runs on seven hits. He'll take a 22.50 ERA back to Triple-A with the Cardinals if he clears waivers, or perhaps elsewhere if he is claimed.
