Ryan Tepera (RP, TOR) - Week 11 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 22% of leagues

ANALYSIS: Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Ryan Tepera has been profiled as a top waiver wire pickup frequently, but his ownership is only up 2% over the last week. Tyler Clippard was the closer for the Blue Jays over the last few weeks, but now it appears that Tepera is the man to end games north of the border.

Tepera threw 3 1/3 innings last week and, while he did not register a save, he did have four strikeouts and allowed just one baserunner. He was 2-0 with two saves and two holds in May and has a 3.71 ERA since the beginning of last month. He has 17 strikeouts in 17 innings since the beginning of May, but did allow runs in three of his last five appearances in May. An elevated walk rate in May (seven walks) had led to problems for Tepera, but has only walked a batter in two of his last seven outings.

The Blue Jays do not have a stable option at closer, but it appears that Tepera is the flavor of the week for Toronto. He will have a chance to grab the role for a while as well, considering that there is not a timeline for Osuna's return from suspension.
