Mets Bringing Up Ty Kelly
6 years agoIn a corresponding transaction with the impending DFA of catcher Jose Lobaton, the New York Mets are calling up second baseman Ty Kelly. Kelly was having a solid year down in Triple-A Las Vegas, slashing .252/.346/.450 with six home runs, 34 runs scored and 29 RBI across 229 plate appearances. However, he’s not likely to come into any fantasy value anytime soon. In 105 plate appearances in 2017 between the Mets and Philadelphia Phillies, the 29-year-old could muster only two home runs with a meager .191/.257/.337 slash line. He’ll simply serve as infield depth for a team that for some reason continues to employ Jose Reyes for the exact same purpose.
